James J. Seaman

James J. Seaman, 71, a lifelong resident of Jersey City, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019.  James was an Attorney with Garrubbo & Capece in Union, NJ and retired in 2016.  He specialized in Labor Law and Appellate Advocacy. In Parks v. Rogers, he successfully argued before the NJ Supreme Court for Elizabeth Parks. The case was written up in the New Jersey Law Journal.

He previously was an attorney at Waters, McPherson, McNeill in Secaucus, and Schiller, Vyzas, Squeo and McGill in Jersey City.  He was also the Associate Counsel for the Jersey City Board of Education.  James received a Bachelor of Arts from St. Peter's College, Jersey City, Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall School of Law and was a graduate of St. Peter's Prep, Jersey City.  He was admitted to the NJ Bar, US District Court and US Supreme Court.

James was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants sports fan.  He had a wealth of knowledge which he enjoyed sharing with everyone.  An avid reader, he loved to learn and taught his beloved niece and nephew to do the same.  James was a fan of the opera, and loved astronomy.

James was the beloved son of Rose (nee: Pugliese) and the late Peter Seaman; loving brother of Janet Sullivan and husband, Jack, Peter Seaman and wife, Elaine and Joseph Seaman; cherished uncle of Thomas Sullivan and Dr. Kathleen Sullivan and husband, Sean Gilligan; adoring great-uncle of Mary Rose Gilligan.

Visitation is on Monday, April 22, 2019, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bayonne Memorial Home, 854 Avenue C, Bayonne, NJ 07002.  Everyone will meet for a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Jersey City.  Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Prep, 144 Grand St., Jersey City, NJ 07302 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
