Americo “Rick” Caputo passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born in Bayonne to the late Angelina (nee: Bove) and Antonio Caputo and was a lifelong Bayonne resident. He was a traffic and warehouse manager for Maidenform for over 40 years and retired with the closing of the facility.
Mr. Caputo proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the F.A. Mackenzie Post #165 American Legion and the Catholic War Veterans Our Lady of Assumption Post 1612. He was also a devoted volunteer at the Menlo Park Veterans home for many years.
He was an avid New York Giants fan and a season ticket holder for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing cards at the CWV Post and playing bocce and softball. A music enthusiast, he loved classic country music and Jimmy Rosselli records. Driving was his passion and he accumulated close to a million miles in his life. He drove up until this last year when he hit the proverbial wall.
Mr. Caputo is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Grace (nee: Zampella) Caputo.
He was the loving father of Anthony Caputo, and his late companion, Mary Finnerty, and Angela Testa, and her husband, Rick; the cherished grandfather of Ricky and Toni Ann Testa and the godfather of Joanne Carine. He is survived by his brother Salvatore ‘Tutti’ (late Norma) Caputo, Vivian (Nick) Furina, Natalie (Ed ‘Whitey’) Glembocki, Martha (late John) Gattuso and predeceased by his sisters Jean (late Gerard) Mongiello, and Ida (late Vincent) Caltagirone. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews and his lifelong best friend John ‘Mersh’ Terracciano.
His life exemplified his motto of God, Family and Country.
He will be greatly missed and all who knew him are thankful he was part of their lives.
