George Kertis passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2020, at Care One at Wellington. He was born in Bayonne to the late Anna (nee: Sabo) and George Kertis and was a lifelong Bayonne resident. Mr. Kertis was an engineer for Foster Wheeler, Inc. in Livingston prior to retirement.
He was a devoted parishioner of Grace Lutheran Church, serving on the Church Council for many years, including terms as President and Treasurer. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Peninsula Lodge No.99 and a generous donor to the Shriners.
He proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Navy.
Mr. Kertis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gladys (nee: Frantz) Kertis. He is survived by his beloved niece, Joyce Patterson; his loving nephew, Michael Kimak; his cherished grandnephews, Christopher Kimak and Kertis Patterson; his adoring grandniece, Rachel Edmunds; and his great nephew, Julian and great niece, Rosie, whom he took great delight in. He was also predeceased by his dear sister, Mary Kimak.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, private funeral services will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. A Memorial Gathering will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc.
