Barbara E. (Leahey) Spirko

Barbara E. Spirko (nee: Leahey), 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Bayonne to the late Julia (nee: McCarthy) and George Leahey and was a lifelong Bayonne resident.  She was a proud graduate of Holy Family Academy, where she later volunteered for their adult program.  Mrs. Spirko was a devoted parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, where she was a member of their Rosary Society and a volunteer for their CCD program.  She lived a fulfilled life as a domestic engineer and provided online technical support services for Prodigy.  

Mrs. Spirko was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Spirko.  She is survived by her loving children, Nancy Spirko, and her husband, Arthur Peets, and BJ Burke, and her husband, Eddie; her adoring grandchildren, EJ Burke, and his wife, Adrianne, and Kristyn Burke-Valley, and her husband, Dave; and her cherished great grandson, William Burke.

The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Monday, November 5, 2018.  A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, November 4, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Donations may be made to St. John’s Soup Kitchen, P.O.
