Jack Foye

John “Jack” Foye passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at Overlook Hospital, Summit. He was born in Jersey City to the late Mary (nee: Nolan) and Thomas Foye and was a long-time Bayonne and Avon-By-The-Sea resident.  A graduate of St. Michael’s High School and Seton Hall University, Jack was an insurance adjuster for State Farm Insurance Company, Cranford, for 46 years. 

Jack proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1956.

Jack was Bayonne’s First Ward Councilman from 1974 to 1986, serving as the City Council President from 1978 to 1986. He was the standard bearer for the Jack Foye Association and was a member of a host of other political organizations.  Jack was also a founding member of Ireland’s 32 and was a constant presence in the Irish community.

Jack was a long-time parishioner of St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Star of the Sea Council #371.

Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife, Claire Anne (nee: Shanahan) Foye in 2006; and his loving son, Kevin T. Foye in 2008.  He is survived by his devoted sons, John Drew Foye, and his wife, Maureen, and Jay Foye, and his wife, Marie; and his five cherished grandchildren, John Drew, Thomas, Brian, Michael and Andrew Foye.

Private funeral services were conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Avon-By-The-Sea First Aid and Safety Squad, Attn: Bart Barry, 520 Main Street, Avon-By-The-Sea, NJ 07717.
