Judy McDonald (nee: Mahon) passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, June 15, 2019. She was born in Bayonne to the late Helen (nee: Spinelli) and James Mahon and remained a resident for most of her life.
Judy was a graduate of Jersey City State College and a passionate educator for almost 30 years, serving the Horace Mann community for 25 years, where she was a recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award. She was a member the Bayonne Historical Society and also was a volunteer for the Hudson County Animal League. Judy was an avid reader, a world traveler and especially loved spending time with her family.
Judy is survived by her dear brother, James Mahon, and his wife, Elline; her cherished nieces, Laura Swyberius, and her husband, Stephen, and Jennifer Orband, and her husband, David; her adoring grandnieces, Jocelyn and Abigail Swyberius and Riley Orband; her cherished grandnephew, Logan Orband; many cousins; and her favorite cat, Sunny Boy. The family would also like to thank Judy’s wonderful caregivers, Raisa and Bunny.
The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Saturday, June 22, 2019. A funeral Mass will take place at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 11:00 a.m. followed by entombment at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday, June 21, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1373 Broad Street, Suite 309, Clifton, NJ 07013 or the Hudson County Animal League, P.O.
