Ann "Nancy" M. (Hughes) Downie

Ann “Nancy” M. Downie (nee: Hughes) passed away peacefully at her Bayonne residence on Saturday, July 10, 2021.  She was born in Jersey City to the late Mary (nee: McGinley) and James Hughes, was a long-time Bayonne resident.

A graduate of St. Dominic’s Academy, Nancy was a customer service representative for NJ Bell Telephone Company for over 30 years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and going to the gym with her dearest friends.

Nancy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas Downie, Sr.  She is survived by her loving children, Thomas Downie, Jr., and his wife, Marybeth, John Downie, and his wife, Jackie, Peggy Garvey, Mary Harrington, and Eileen Bocchino, and her husband, Tom; her 19 cherished grandchildren; her six adoring great grandchildren; her dear brother, John Hughes; her dear sister-in-law, Carol Hughes; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.  Nancy was also predeceased by her beloved siblings, Mary, Gerald, Andrew and James Hughes; and her loving son-in-law, Mark Harrington.

The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.  A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 11:00 a.m.  Private cremation will follow.  Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
