Anne May Prout

Anne May Prout (nee: Bruno), 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at her family’s home in Bayonne. Born in Long Branch to Pauline (nee: Pingatore) and Frank Bruno, Anne was a long-time resident of Monmouth Beach, Tucson, AZ, and Tinton Falls. A graduate of Long Branch High School, Anne worked for the Eatontown Board of Education before retiring in 1982. Anne and her husband spent 23 years in Tucson golfing, entertaining, and enjoying their retirement. Mrs. Prout was a crossword puzzle aficionado and loved writing limericks about her friends and family. Her quick wit and sassy temperament will be sorely missed.     

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Gordon “Corky” Prout, and her treasured sisters, Mary Tomaine, Theresa Brignola, Josephine Fisher and Frances Witek. 

She is survived by her daughter Judy McCabe and her husband, Mickey of Bayonne; her son Don Prout and his wife, Debbie of Richmond, VA; her granddaughter Allison McCabe Matto and her husband Joseph of Monmouth Beach; her grandsons Michael McCabe and his wife Tina of Pompton Plains;  Derek Prout and his wife Jessica of Moseley, VA; Bryan Prout and his wife Tayler of Arlington, VA; and her sister Clara Colaguori of Tinton Falls. Mrs. Prout was also the proud great-grandmother of Maddie, Luke, Grace, Aiden, Abigail, Lia,  Emily, Parker, Samantha and James.

Cremation will be private and a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
