George R. Lavelle, Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, November 1, 2021, at his Bayonne residence. He was born in Bayonne to the late Mae (nee: Darlymple) and Walter Lavelle and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Lavelle was a patrolman for the Bayonne Police Department, retiring after over 26 years of service and was a bus driver for the Bayonne Board of Education for 17 years.
Mr. Lavelle proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Air Force. He was Past Worshipful Master of both the Secaucus Masonic Lodge #72 and Peninsula Lodge #99 and was a Master Mason for 44 years. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post #19.
He was the founder of the Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps and was a motorcycle enthusiast.
Mr. Lavelle was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beatrice (nee: Nolan) Lavelle. He is survived by his loving children, George Lavelle, and his wife, Terry, and Dawn Lavelle; his dear stepdaughter, Sharon Adcock, and her husband, Archie; his cherished grandchildren, Riley, Ryan, and Angela Grace; and his dear brother, Douglas.
Visitation will be held at Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Friday, November 5, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a service to follow. Cremation will be private.
