Mary G. Meaney passed away peacefully on April 14, 2021 with her loving daughter at her side. She was born in Bayonne to the late Ellen (nee: Sharkey) and Patrick James Gallagher and was a lifelong Bayonne resident.
Mrs. Meaney had a long and fulfilling career as Teacher, Reading Specialist, Child Study Team member, and Principal for over 45 years prior to retirement. In her retirement, she supervised student teachers for several years for her alma mater NJSU.
She was a lifelong parishioner of the Church of St. Henry, where she was baptized and graduated from elementary school. She was also a member of its Rosary Society.
Mrs. Meaney is survived by her beloved daughter, Noel Meaney; and a loving extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her dear brothers, Edward F. Gallagher, and his wife, Ann, and Charles Gallagher, and his wife, Margaret.
The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Monday, April 19, 2021. A funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St. Henry at 10:45 a.m. followed by entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum. A walk-through visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
