Richard G. Nugent

Richard G. Nugent of Bayonne passed away at CarePoint Health Bayonne Medical Center on Wednesday November 24th, his 86th birthday. 

Richard is survived by his devoted son, Richard M. Nugent, loving daughter-in-law Joan and cherished grandchildren Clare, Kate, Evan, Gavin and Annemarie Nugent.  Richard was the beloved husband for 40 years of the late Anna Marie Nugent (nee:  Malloy), and was also predeceased by his loving parents, Helen (nee:  Seymour) and Richard Nugent, and dear sisters Mary Butler, Helen Pitlick and Ethel Leonard.  Richard is survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Born in Bayonne, Richard was a lifelong resident except during his service in the United States Army.  Richard worked briefly for Colgate-Palmolive and then worked for Pamrapo Savings Bank (now BCB Community Bank) from 1959-1996 where he served in a variety of positions, including as branch manager of the main office at 611 Avenue C. 

Richard was a long-time parishioner at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Andrew the Apostle Church.  He loved his family above all else.

The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc.  Visitation will occur from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the funeral home.  A funeral Mass will be offered at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J.  The family wishes to thank Rosa Neno M.D. at BHMG United Medical; Hattie Brown, Lillawatie Seebaran and others at BAYADA Home Health Care; and Lorena Rodriguez and others at Assisting Seniors at Home for all the care given to Richard.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, which is part of the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation, 555 Kennedy Boulevard, P.O.
