Sofia Duarte

Sofia M. Duarte, 69, of Bayonne passed away on January 29, 2020. Sofia was born in Cuba on September 30, 1950 to Cuban percussionist Angel Duarte and Margarita (Cruz).

Sofia immigrated to the United States to offer her daughters a better way of life. She attended HCCC, taking ESL classes, while working as a sewing machine operator in Union City. Soon after she began a sales career with Kirby Vacuum. She loved her job in sales and met a lot of new people who became dear friends. She retired due to her health.

Sofia is survived by her four daughters Morayma, Maylin, Mayte, Monica; her brother Lazaro; and other family and friends. She was a beloved grandmother to 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A private memorial service will be conducted at Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc.
